Emergencies

There is always a Doctor available in the event of an emergency. Generally an emergency is the sudden onset of a severe medical problem or the sudden deterioration of an existing medical problem.

During the day ring 667 623 and the receptionist will either connect you to a Doctor or contact one for you if there is no Doctor in the surgery.

To deal with emergencies at night, from 6:00pm and at weekends please ring NHS Devon 111, your call will be triaged to the appropriate Out of Hours Service such as Devon Doctors. If it is a life threatening condition please dial 999 to contact an emergency ambulance.

If you are calling on behalf of someone else please have relevant information available, such as:

  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Current medication
  • Name of their GP

If considered necessary you will be referred to a duty Doctor or Nurse Practitioner who will contact you and, either give further telephone advice, or ask you to attend a local centre or in appropriate circumstances visit you at home.
